Common Misconceptions of Homophones

Two of the most commonly used homophones are affect and effect and except and accept. Homophones are words that have the same sound but very different meanings. For example: "I, very appreciatively, accepted the gifts. All except for the $100 dollar gift card." Accept means to recieve willingly. Except means to take or to leave out. On an occassion I am guilty of making this mistake. I forget that there is another meaning or way of spelling what I'm trying to say.
